Market Match Questions and Answers

Q. What happens if I do not enroll in Market Match?
A. If you do not enroll in Market Match, your account will continue to be serviced in the same way it is currently serviced. If you currently purchase "bundled" supply and delivery from Central Hudson, we will continue to provide you with both services. If you currently purchase supply from an independent energy provider (marketer), that supply arrangement will continue until ended by you or your provider.
Q. Should I enroll in Market Match?
A. Enrollment is a personal and a business decision. Central Hudson supports the right of all customers to seek the best available price for their individual supply needs.
Q. Will I be obligated to accept a supply offer from an independent provider if I enroll in Market Match?
A. No. You can accept or reject any offer you receive. If you reject all offers, you will continue to be supplied in the same way that you currently receive your energy.
Q. What information will be provided to energy marketers if I enroll in Market Match?
A. We will provide the contact information you enter in the Market Match enrollment. In addition, we will provide the location of your account(town and county), your rate class, load profile and next scheduled meter reading date. If you have authorized its release, we will also provide a summary record of your most recent 12-month payment history.
Q. Will my information be handled confidentially?
A. All marketers participating in Market Match are prohibited from selling, disclosing, or providing any customer information to others, including their affiliates, unless you authorize the disclosure.
Q. Will I save money if I elect to purchase supply from a provider other than Central Hudson?
A. The price and other terms of any agreement that you make with a marketer are between you and the marketer. Central Hudson will have no knowledge of the terms of your agreement. However, if you are currently receiving both supply and delivery from Central Hudson, your bill provides information on the current unit cost of energy, which you can use to compare other offers.
Q. If I accept a marketer's offer, can I later decide to return to Central Hudson for supply?
A. Central Hudson does not limit your ablity to return to us for supply service, however, you need to be aware of the terms and conditions of your agreement with your marketer, which may impose a penalty for termination.
Q. Will I receive two bills if I enroll in Market Match?
A. The billing arrangement will depend upon you and your marketer. Central Hudson offers a Consolidated (single) Billing Service. If your marketer is a participant in the service, you can elect this service, which will allow you to continue to receive one bill, containing both your supply charges and your Central Hudson delivery charges. If your marketer does not participate in the Consolidated Billing Service, you will receive separate bills from your marketer and Central Hudson, and make separate payments to each.
Q. If I enroll in Market Match, am I guaranteed to receive offers from marketers?
A. Not necessarily. Some energy marketers concentrate in particular geographic areas. Also, your load profile (the "shape" of your usage pattern) may not be consistent with some marketers' business plans. However, we expect that most customers who enroll will be contacted by a marketer.
